Call To Rise Above Politics

Damauli : Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha has stressed on the need for the Newar community to rise above politics and show unity.

Inaugurating the second convention of the Newa: Dey Dabu Bhanu Municipal Coordinating Committee held at Baisjangar of Bhanu Municipality-9 on Saturday, he stressed on the need to avoid politics for the benefit of the Newar community.

“Among the Newar community, some are affiliated the Nepali Congress, some with the CPN (UML), the CPN (Maoist Center) and some with the CPN (Unified Socialist). However, Newars must unite for the benefit of their community”, he said.

Referring to his Ministry of Labor, he said the ministry was very challenging and that he was engaged in a campaign to end the distortions and anomalies there. “I am working to not let the people down. I have tried to include everyone, without looking for political gains,” he added.

Also on Saturday, Minister Shrestha visited the family of Prakash Adhikari, 42, of Farakchaur in Tanahu’s Byas Municipality-11, who died during foreign employment in Malaysia. Adhikari reportedly died of a heart attack after reaching his room from work.

Minister Shrestha said the work was being carried out to bring back the body of Adhikari home from Malaysia.
The Foreign Employment Board under the Ministry makes arrangements to bring the body to the house in case of death of a worker who has going abroad after obtaining labor permit. In addition, there is a provision to provide Rs. 700,000 as compensation.
